Ghana Names Final 23

After months of speculations, Coach Milovan Rejavic has named his final 23 players for the world cup. There was a lot of speculation as to who and who will be in the squad. My brother Mighty African weighed in and so did I. In consolidating our lists, we weren’t too far from the right. Let’s see who is going to be in South Africa;
Goalkeepers: Richard Kingson (Unattached), Daniel Agyei (Liberty Professionals, Ghana), Stephen Ahorlu (Hearts of Lions, Ghana).
Defenders: Samuel Inkoom (FC Basel, Switzerland), Jonathan Mensah (Free State Stars, South Africa), Lee Addy (Bechem Chelsea, Ghana), Rahim Ayew (Zamalek, Egypt), Hans Sarpei (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany), John Mensah (Sunderland, England), Isaac Vorsah (Hoffenheim, Germany), John Paintsil (Fulham, England).
Midfielders: Sulley Ali Muntari (Inter Milan, Italy), Derek Boateng (Getafe, Spain), Anthony Annan (Rosenborg, Norway), Kwadwo Asamoah (Udinese, Italy), André Ayew (Arles-Avignon, France), Stephen Appiah (Bologna, Italy), Quincy Owusu Abeyie (Al-Sadd, Qatar), Kevin-Prince Boateng (Portsmouth, England).
Attackers: Matthew Amoah (NAC Breda, Netherlands), Asamoah Gyan (Stade Rennais, France), Prince Tagoe(Hoffenheim, Germany), Dominic Adiyiah (AC Milan, Italy).
Who was dropped?
Stephen Adams, Eric Addo, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Laryea Kingston, Haminu Draman and Bernard Kumordzi
Surprises?
Well, I will say I’m surprised Laryea Kingston and Eric Addo didn’t make the squad. Eric hasn’t been too impressive recently but I thought they’d just let him have a taste of the World Cup considering he’ll retire soon.
With Laryea Kingston, I thought the coach would give him a chance. This would have been good for his career. I think he should just retire now or go play in UAE.
With Haminu Draman, I had a feeling he would not make the final list. He wasn’t too impressive in Angola 2010 and with Kuban where he’s on loan. Quincy is a worthy replacement.
All in all, this is a very resolute side even without Michael Essien. Our strength is still the midfield and we’re going to win the World Cup! Let me know what you think.
God Bless Our Homeland Ghana!!!
